How to convert HEIF to JPG
- Choose your photos with the button above, or drag them onto the box. Files ending in .heif, .heic or .hif are all accepted.
- Keep JPG selected, or pick PNG or PDF. Open Options for quality, size limits and location removal.
- Download. One photo saves on its own. Several come as one ZIP, with each file keeping its name.
Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs inside this browser tab, and the page is only allowed to talk to this website. To check, load the page, turn on Airplane Mode, and convert: it still works. How it works shows the full proof.
HEIF vs HEIC: what is the difference?
HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) is the container: a standard way to store one or more images in a file. HEIC is HEIF with the images compressed by HEVC, the same compression used for modern video. Apple's iPhone saves photos as HEIC, which is why most people see that ending.
Other devices use the more general names:
- Samsung Galaxy phones have a camera setting called "High efficiency pictures" that saves photos in HEIF format.
- Some Canon and Sony cameras can save HEIF stills, often with the ending .HIF.
- Other Android phones may save .heif or .heic files, depending on the maker.
For converting, the difference rarely matters: this converter reads all three endings the same way. Each file is decoded on your device, the rotation is applied so the photo stands upright, and the date taken and camera details are copied into the JPG. If a file from a camera will not open, write to support@noheic.com and tell us the camera model. Read more in What is a HEIC file?
HEIF to PNG
Pick PNG in the converter above instead of JPG. PNG keeps every pixel without compression loss, which is useful for editing and design tools, but the files are much larger than JPG. More detail on the HEIC to PNG page.
HEIF to PDF
Pick PDF in the converter. Under Options, choose "All photos in one PDF" or "One PDF per photo", and a page size: fit each photo, Letter or A4. More detail on the HEIC to PDF page.
Questions
Is HEIF the same as HEIC?
Nearly. HEIC is a kind of HEIF file that uses HEVC compression, and it is what iPhones save. Both open in this converter.
What is a .hif file?
It is a HEIF photo saved by some cameras, such as certain Canon and Sony models. Add it to the converter like any other photo.
Can I convert HEIF to PNG?
Yes. Choose PNG in the converter before you add your photos, or switch it afterwards and convert again.
Can I convert HEIF to PDF?
Yes. Choose PDF, then pick one combined PDF or one per photo, and Letter, A4 or photo-sized pages.
Are my HEIF files uploaded?
No. They are converted inside your browser tab and never sent to a server. The page keeps working with Airplane Mode on.
How do I stop my Samsung phone saving HEIF?
In the Camera app, open settings and look for "High efficiency pictures" (on many models under Advanced picture options). Turn it off and new photos are saved as JPG. Menu names vary by model.
